Come Home to the Hill Country!

2 dogs, 3 cats, 2 roosters, 6 chickens and a herd of deer!

deer  NO I DIDN'T TAKE THE KIDS TO THE ZOO TODAY...

This is the actual menagerie that greeted me at my mom's new listing that I went to video and photograph today.  23 acres with a house and drum roll please...a chicken coop!  This place is really cool...you have to drive for over a mile on a winding driveway back into the hill country to get to the house.  When you finally see something that looks like civilization, you get to a circle drive with extra paved parking and a custom home sitting on a hillside.

The surroundings are beautiful, peaceful, and natural...very natural!  First I encountered an orange tabby cat sitting under a tree in the front yard.  Once inside I was gleefully greeted by a Corgy and a Dachsund who had enough energy to light a small town!  Then I met the champagne tabby cat who rubbed up against my leg as I shot photos of the back deck area.

I looked off the back of the deck and saw something moving around on the ground.  I did a double take and the owner said, "Did you see my chickens?"  Oh yes, 6 chickens and two beautiful roosters pecking at corn on the ground in the yard off the back deck.  The oddity was seeing these fowl dining on corn in the back yard with a herd of deer!  I couldn't believe it.  I said to the owner "I can't believe the deer aren't freaked out by the chickens."  She said that they get along great and eat together every day.

It was a wildlife windfall!  So yes, I shot video and photographs and yes, there are animals in many of the shots.  You just couldn't shoot around them!  It was fun and entertaining at the same time.  The good news was the home and grounds were free of animal aromas...so things should go okay!  I am thinking that the fact that only someone who really likes wildlife and country living would move into this place, so it should be appealing to the nature lovers in the crowd.  The biggest challenge might just be that the chickens don't convey!
